The first step is to book your FREE Phone Consultation (first service listed below) so that you can ask any questions you may have about working together, and make sure that Jennifer's skills and location offerings are a match for your needs and goals, and then if desired/appropriate, book the new assessment together.

Your initial assessment appointment starts with Jen uncovering your expertise of your lived experience with your concern and combines her knowledge to determine the diagnosis, your goals, the custom treatment plan, and then starting that treatment - both equipping you for what you can do at home to progress, and what treatments in clinic will be most helpful.

You will then have a series of follow-up visits (the number and frequency depends on the severity and complexity of the situation and will be estimated by the end of your first follow-up visit..) Throughout this time period, there will be things of your normal life that you can do, but likely also things that you should avoid doing and/or modify for the goal of fastest possible recovery. This is called "load management" and "optimal loading support" and Jennifer Denys will customize this to your exact issue and situation.

The focus in Physiotherapy is to help you achieve your goals, regaining your independence to do the things you love to do. (The fancy medical word when you have reached being ready for independence from physio is called "discharged" but you can think of it more like a "graduation"/"celebration").

It is not advisable to self-discharge as there's so much more to recovery than being pain-free. Jennifer Denys will ensure you are not only pain-free, but also truly recovered in all the facets that make a healthy physical body - like balance, strength, endurance, power, high impact tolerance. As part of this, she will ensure you have the tools to help prevent a reoccurrence of the same issue, and will then officially discharge you.

Physiotherapy services for residents of any place in Ontario, as described in the Physiotherapy section, but offered virtually - through either secure video-conferencing or telephone. This is a preferable style of therapy when sickness symptoms preclude an in-person appointment, but also is ideal for reasons of geography (where it is too difficult to get to Oakville at all, or regularly), practicality (for example, in early post-partum status) or when weather challenges present driving safety concerns.

All initial consultations for new clients will begin with a phone call which can be booked online as a "Complimentary Phone Consultation".

Consulting

With a mission to empower your freedom to move, Jennifer Denys offers group workshops as well as consultation services for organizations - all specific to injury prevention, injury recovery optimization, and performance optimization. Please book a Discovery Call to speak with Jennifer about your particular group and determine together which topic and format will best suit your group's needs.

At a very young age, I fell in love with the art of dance and body movement. I became a Physiotherapist to share that love with others by helping them continue to enjoy their own movement too.

Shortly after graduating with both a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from Trinity Western University and a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from McMaster University, I joined Canada’s National Ballet School as a Physiotherapist. There, I spent 15 years helping dancers improve their technique, prevent injuries and restore their full function after an injury.

My entire career has also included private orthopedic practice, helping local dancers and people from diverse walks of life, most recently through ellephysio in Oakville, ON.

With a passion for lifelong learning, I’ve pursued extensive post-graduate training in dance therapy, manual therapy, neurofunctional acupuncture, pelvic health external techniques, movement analysis, custom exercise prescription, and therapeutic taping.

In 2020, I launched my private practice, working both in-person and virtually with dancers and people from all across the province of Ontario through Jennifer Denys Physio—living out my mission to empower people to enjoy their full physical freedom.
